A wonderful project to be involved with — the rebranding and new signage system for Waihoanga River Lodge and Retreat. This process began with a very productive workshop to unpack and clarify all Waihoanga's fresh new vision, their understanding of their audience as well as their new mission statement. Logo redesigned, brand photography, new business card and then I designed over 45 new signs (interior and exterior) to help freshen this magical space.
Thank you Andy and Rhian, I loved collaborating with you on this hearty creative process.
'Working with Catherine was a pleasure from the start of brainstorming our new design right through to delivery and execution. She helped us to consider and articulate what our brand was about at its core, as well as how we want to use our branding and under what circumstances. She was then also extremely responsive and thoughtful as we went through an iterative process, including us all discussing paint palettes, walking through mock-ups, and establishing great working relationships with other suppliers recommended by Catherine. We now have a brand that we love, which is suitably versatile to look great on massive entrance signs, digital media, paperwork, and road signs. I heartily recommend working with Catherine - it was a genuinely enjoyable and rewarding experience from beginning to end.'
Sisters of Compassion
An exhibition at the Home of Compassion, Island Bay, Wellington, that tells of the history of the Sisters of Compassion. A special and fascinating project to be involved in as the graphic designer alongside Celeste Skachill.
Alongside Rosie Percival, I had a wonderful time redesigning the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New Zealand's annual yoga journal. We brought energy and life to the redesign, with colour coded sections, bold imagery, clear typography and a spacious layout.
In my clients words:
“I had the pleasure of working with Catherine and Rosie on our Special Edition of the Yoga Link - the magazine of the Iyengar Yoga Association of NZ. Together they brought an exceptional level of professionalism, initiative and creativity to the project. Throughout the process, their enthusiasm for the subject matter shone through and is evident in the beautiful design and layout. Their attention to detail, clear communication and dedication to producing an excellent result made this project a joy to be involved in!”
Working alongside Celeste Skachill we had the great pleasure of working closely with Choice to develop a fresh new brand, new app and new website design.
Choice is a bold social initiative, requiring a happy and bold visual identity. Choice is changing the way we pay, empowering the world to pay with purpose with 50% of all transaction fees being directed to a charity of the consumers choice. Go Choice!
Into Sight, Into Mind
75% of waste New Zealanders send to landfill is recyclable or reusable. Rubbish disposal is a mostly private activity, which often happens without thought while the discarded item is immediately forgotten – out of sight, out of mind.
This personal project aims to stimulate thought and dialogue about the often invisible world of rubbish, with the ultimate goal of encouraging more responsible management of individual and collective rubbish disposal and production.
While employed as senior designer, creative director at Open Lab, I had the great pleasure of working with artist Kingsley Baird designing his bilingual publication to accompany his exhibition in France.
College of Creative Arts Prospectus
Working as senior designer/creative director at Open Lab, Massey University, I was engaged to design the College of Creative Arts 2014 prospectus. This booklet outlines the courses on offer and the course structures of the BDes and BFA over their four year durations.

Brand photography / E-commerce website build
Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. My studio smelt and looked like nothing but chocolate for two days straight while I had much fun photographing these flat-lay and clear cut shots for Esque Fine Chocolate's online shop — which I subsequently designed with the talented Rosie Percival.
If quality chocolate, made with 100% passion is your thing, you can order online on the brand spanking new website here.

Working as creative director and senior designer alongside Anna Brown at Massey University's Open Lab, I had the great pleasure conceptualising and designing this book for artist David Cross.
Each of the thirteen public art projects took place across Tasmania and sought to address the idea of transforming an artwork four times over four weeks. The concept of 'four iterations' is strongly reflected in both the typographical design of the cover as well as within the internal spreads.

Brand Design / Brand Collateral
Working alongside Celeste Skachill at Open Lab — Japanese Studies Aotearoa New Zealand, was seeking a brand that captured both Japan and Aotearoa New Zealand. For the design we chose to reference the red circle within the Japanese flag and combine this with an abstract representation of New Zealand's iconic Pohutukawa flower. Together they form JSANZ's new unique brand.
In our client's words: 'Working with Celeste and Catherine from StudioC has been a truly collaborative process. Right from the get-go StudioC respectfully questioned, listened and gently challenged.
From the first to the final concepts, I was able to select from an evolving series of well-crafted, well-reasoned options.
Throughout our collaboration, Celeste and Catherine were unfailingly enthusiastic, flexible and super responsive. Going the extra mile to meet a tight deadline and finite budget, working with StudioC was an absolute joy.'
Brand Design / Brand Collateral

Brand Design / Infographics
Working with Celeste Skachill of StudioC Design, we had the great pleasure of working with a team of two other wonderful women, creating their brand and illustrative process charts.
While working at Open Lab as a senior design and creative director I had the pleasure of working the the Undergraduate team to redesign the prospectus, outline all courses on offer and how to structure ones study programmes.
Stuff that Sucks
A wonderful book design to work on while employed at Open Lab.
Stuff That Sucks : Accepting what you can't change and committing to what you can, by Ben Sedley.
I thoroughly enjoyed working on the design of this wonderful book aimed at a teenage audience. Chloe Johnston assisted me with design and Kalos Chan worked on the wonderful illustrations.
